What makes a cicim kilim special

Cicim (pronounced "jee-jim") is a decorative technique in which extra coloured threads are wrapped over the base weave, so the motifs sit slightly raised on the surface. It takes far longer than a plain kilim and gives the piece a rich, embroidered look. Mut, in the Taurus Mountains of southern Turkey, is known for this tradition among its village and Yörük weavers.

Care
