A handmade Aksaray cicim kilim with richly detailed geometric motifs on a soft neutral ground. Layers of pink, burgundy, purple, olive, yellow and warm orange create an expressive yet balanced design.

What makes a cicim kilim special

Cicim (pronounced "jee-jim") is a decorative technique in which extra coloured threads are wrapped over the base weave, so the motifs sit slightly raised on the surface. Aksaray, in Central Anatolia, is one of the best-known regions for fine cicim weaving.

Care
